Cass County plans to demolish blighted structures and make the properties useful again.

That’s thanks to Cass County Land Bank Authority’s new Blight Elimination Program.

The statewide program guarantees a minimum of 200 thousand dollars to be allocated to each rural county through the program’s duration, and in March the state land bank authority awarded Cass County land bank authority just over 159 thousand dollars.

WSJM says the funds can be used to stabilize vacant residential, commercial, and industrial buildings to secure and protect them.

Funds can also be put towards demolishing vacant and blighted structures that cannot be fixed.

Cass County plans to demolish eight blighted structures.
