Update to 1980 cold case murder in Mishawaka

An update regarding a cold case in Mishawaka that dates back more than 40 years: It was the 1980 murder of Shelley Werner, who was just 15, at the time she died.

Werner was abducted from a grocery store and later found shot to death.

A witness recently came forward and identified three suspects, all of whom has since died.

Police did not release names of the suspects.

The Mishawaka Cold Case Unit is working on at least 7 other cases – one, of which, dates back to 1964:

February 17, 1988 – Location: 1400 E. 12th Street Mishawaka, IN Homicide Victim: Phyllis Eckert

April 27th, 1987 – Location: 110 South Merrifield Mishawaka, IN Homicide Victim: Michael Markanich

August 28th, 1985 – Location: 2516 Lincolnway West Mishawaka, IN Homicide Victim: Thomas Rohr

July 28, 1964 – Location: 1419 Milburn Blvd Homicide Victim: Dorothy Handley
