Two fallen Indiana firefighters to be added to National Firefighters Memorial

The names of two fallen firefighters from Indiana will be added to the National Firefighters Memorial in Emmitsburg, Maryland, this weekend.
This year’s national tribute will honor 79 crew members, in all, who died in the line of duty, last year, and 65 firefighters who died in previous years.
64-yerar-old Terry Lee Cassidy of the Sparta Township Fire Department, responded to a medical emergency at a home last year. While assisting at the scene, he started experiencing symptoms of a heart attack and died.
Also, 53-year-old Deputy Chief Bruce DeArk with the Jeffersonville Fire Department died of colon cancer deemed to be in the line of duty by the state of Indiana.
Each firefighter’s name will be inscribed on a bronze plaque and become a permanent part of the Memorial in honor of their sacrifices.
