Indiana DNR looking for help from paddlers

(Photo supplied/Indiana Department of Natural Resources)

The Indiana DNR is looking for help from some paddlers who may have some information about wildlife.

The Indiana Paddlecraft Wildlife Index compiles observations of wildlife from those using canoes, kayaks or other paddlecraft in Indiana waterways.

They document how many wildlife were seen per how long and far floaters traveled.

The numbers help the DNR to estimate changes in populations as well as to find out where the wildlife species are living.

They’re looking for information on animals including:

Bald Eagle
Blanding’s Turtle
Beaver
Great Blue Heron
Great Egret
Kingfisher
Mink
Muskrat
Osprey
Painted Turtle
Red Eared Slider
River Otter
