Plane lands safely at South Bend Airport after mechanical problem

A plane taking off from South Bend, en route to Dallas, Texas, had to return to South Bend International Airport due to a mechanical problem.

Sky West flight 3289 took off just before 8 a.m. on Monday, May 15, and encountered an apparent issue.

WNDU reports the plane stayed airbound for more than an hour to burn off fuel before attempting to land back in South Bend.

Emergency crews were in place in case of problems, through the plane landed safely.
