It took around 15 minutes to get a house fire under control in South Bend.

Fire crews were called around 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, to the 1000 block of East Bowman Street.

Upon arrival, crews were met with heavy dark smoke and flames coming from the roof area. The first engine on scene stretched a handline to make a defensive fire attack.

There was extensive damage to the back and the side of the structure.

No South Bend Fire Department personnel were injured while fighting the fire.
