A mom and her fiancée are facing charges after her 2nd grader brought a gun to school in Grand Rapids.

The Kent County Prosecutor and Chief of Police announced the charges against the mother of the 7 year-old student on Tuesday. 32 year-old Aubrey Wilson faces a misdemeanor child abuse charge, while her fiancée 29 year-old Chelsea Berkley has been charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

WWMT reports that further charges may be filed later, because the weapon had been reported stolen. The child brought the gun to school on May 3, the third of four such events that have happened in the Grand Rapids Public Schools this year. The problems have prompted a ban on carrying backpacks inside school buildings for the rest of the school year.

A 2nd grader has stolen a gun that’s been stolen. I wonder if the real owner will get it returned to them. The kid’s mother and her felony boyfriend are idiots, for letting a child have access to a firearm. The child deserves more responsible adults raising him or her.
