Indeck natural gas power plant in Niles shut down

(95.3 MNC)

Officials with the Indeck natural gas power plant in Niles have shut down the plant.

This, after neighbors complained, for a third time, last week, at the city council meeting, about the noise and vibration they’ve been dealing with for the past couple of months.

Mayor Nick Shelton told residents he’d stand by them to get to the bottom of the issue.

Leader Publications reports that officials with General Electric are on site, this week, to explore the cause of the noise and, hopefully, come up with a resolution.

The noise and vibration is horrible. Indeck did shut it down for a few days over the weekend. Yesterday they told the Niles City Administrator that they will shut it down from 10:00 pm to 7:00 am for the next two days. I appreciate you covering this issue and I hope you will continue. Thank you!
