The man who lost their life in a fatal collision north of Cleveland Road in South Bend has been identified.

Police received a call around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 18, regarding a crash involving an SUV and a motorcycle on North Ironwood Road, north of West Cleveland Road.

Preliminary investigations revealed that an SUV, driven by a 24-year-old man from Mishawaka and the motorcycle, operated by GJJ Dunn Severinghaus, 46, of Niles, collided.

Both vehicles were traveling southbound on Ironwood at the time of the incident.

Severinghaus was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver was not hurt.

The SUV driver cooperated with authorities, and in accordance with standard procedures, a blood sample was obtained for analysis. Currently, toxicology reports are pending.

The St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team is continuing its investigation.
