After a unanimous vote by the Fire Territory Advisory Board, the Lakeville Volunteer Fire Department will resume operations with a new administrative fire chief.
Once on board, the chief will bridge the gap between the volunteers and the board, preventing future logistic issues.
The recent shutdown was caused by paperwork complications affecting insurance, which has now been resolved by hiring the volunteers as employees of Union Township.
Southwest Fire Territory will no longer cover Lakeville calls, except for help, if needed.
ABC 57 News reports the official hiring of the chief and volunteers is expected on Friday, allowing the department to get back up and running.
