Two flags, including the U.S. and P.O.W. flags, were stolen from a flagpole at the V.F.W. post on M-62 in Edwardsburg.
Officials describe the theft as dishonorable and disrespectful.
The theft happened last weekend, and although new flags have been put up, military veterans are deeply upset.
Dave Dudley, a post official, expressed concern to WNDU, highlighting the sacrifices made under the flag and urging other V.F.W. posts in the area to be vigilant and consider security camera coverage for protection.
