One person is dead and another injured after a Jeep rear-ended a semi Tuesday night.

It happened on eastbound I-94 near the M-51 overpass.

Michigan State Police troopers had been in the area investigating a different crash at the time, which slowed down traffic.

The semi was stopped on the road when the Jeep, driven by a 20-year-old Benton Harbor man, rear ended it.

The man was taken to the hospital with critical injuries, while his passenger, a 19-year-old woman, died at the scene.

The semi driver was not hurt.
