Man, 18, dead after drowning at Lake Michigan in Porter County

Another person has lost their life off the shoreline of Lake Michigan in Porter County. This time, it was an 18-year-old man.

First responders were called around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, to the Porter Beach and managed to rescue a 14-year-old girl who was also struggling in the water. However, they were not able to reach the 18-year-old as quickly. They found him after about 20 minutes and performed C.P.R. He died at the hospital.

The teenage girl is recovering.

It’s the second drowning death in Lake Michigan in Porter County in less than a week.
