A New York man accused of causing a deadly crash on the Indiana Toll Road is scheduled to be sentenced by the end of the summer.

This, after his plea agreement was accepted in court.

The crash happened in June of 2022 and resulted in two deaths and five injured. It was around mile marker 71, just west of the South Bend exit.

WNDU reports that the driver, Chasen Thompson, 27, failed to slow down near a work site, crashing the semi he was driving into other cars.

Thompson says that he was reaching down to the radio when he crashed. His blood draw showed that he was positive for THC.

He is charged with causing death or serious injury while under the influence of marijuana. Thompson’s sentencing hearing is set for Sep. 1.
