Last year’s Republican race for governor’s office in Michigan saw a major shakeup.

Now, there’s some resolutions after Michigan Attorney General, Dana Nessel said that there are dozens of charges against three men accused fraudulent signatures, cutting the Republican race in half in June of 2022.

The three men, 36-year-old Jamie Wilmoth Goodin and Shawn Wilmoth and 37-year-old Willie Reed are facing charges including election forgery and conducting a criminal enterprise. They have more than 20 total charges.

In order to be a candidate, the person has to get at least 15,000 valid signatures from state voters, so that they can make it to the primary.

In April of 2022, multiple men had signatures gathered through hiring and third party signature groups.

In May of 2022, the Bureau of Elections said that out of the ten candidates, five did not have enough legitimate signatures.

Around 68,000 fake signatures were submitted.
