This new law will go into effect on Saturday, July 1, allowing children into bar areas in local restaurants.

ABC 57 News reports that South Bend restaurant owners view this law as a positive change.

They say that minors under 21 will not be able to sit at the actual bar, but can sit in the surrounding bar seating.

Now, bars an restaurants can choose to open up more family-friendly seating, but are not required.
