The Elkhart County Homicide Unit is investigating a fatality in the 800 block of Harrison Street in Elkhart.

It was around 4 a.m. on Sunday, July 2, when Elkhart City 911 dispatch received a sounds of gunfire call from the 800 block of Harrison Street.

Elkhart Police Department officers and emergency personnel dispatched and arrived shortly
thereafter.

Upon arrival, officers found Ricardo A. Navarro, 40, unresponsive.

First aid was rendered at the scene; however, Navarro was ultimately declared dead at the scene.

His death has been ruled a homicide.
