Formal complaint filed against Praxis Landmark Recovery in Mishawaka

(Jon Zimney/95.3 MNC)

The St. Joseph County Sheriff has issued a formal complaint against Praxis Landmark Recovery in Mishawaka after yet another overdose.

The County Police Department has issued a letter asking the their license as an addiction recovery facility in Mishawaka be revoked.

In addition to the recent death investigations, a second person in as many weeks has suffered an overdose. The letter goes on to say that county police have been called to the center more than 200 times since they opened last year… that they’ve already gone through 4 executive directors… have less than 15 staffers to handle as many as 160 patients at a time and have zero security.

They say the facility has been the scene of a stabbing, reported rapes and drug trafficking and that the people running the facility have been less than cooperative.

The latest reported overdose happened on Thursday. The patient was revived using Narcan.

You can not run a treatment facility from corporate office in Nashville with the top people in the company only being book smart with no history of addiction or mental health issues themselves.
It takes living in the shoes of the people you are helping, and overcoming the challenges yourself. That’s why AA has so much success. It run by recovering Addicts/ Alcoholics for those seeking help with their own issues.
You can also not run a for profit business like this strictly for profits reasons. You must put every one who walks in the door as an individual that is senciely cared for. They treat people as a number, an insurance bill and not as human. No business will self sustain itself when operated for the wrong reasons at heart. These are people of God’s creation and deserve the best chance at recovering and in a truly safe environment.
Take notes Praxis on how Flip the Script and The Commitment House in Louisville and Elizabethtown Kentucky on how to have a successful, person centered and we’ll run, clean and safe recovery facility. These two facilities and businesses care about the person they are helping and could careless about the money they make. The money will come with success and doing things for the correct reasons.
Landmark only cares off profiting off the sick and suffering through insurance dollars, and it shows. The truth will always come to light
