The Indiana Department of Correction says construction will begin soon on a new correctional facility in Westville that is set to be the largest in the state.
Lawmakers approved $1.2 billion dollars towards the palns.
The project has prison reform advocacy groups that are hopeful this will address what they call an overcrowded and outdated facility.
The updated facility is said to hold up to an estimated 4,200 incarcerated individuals.

The state needs more prisons cells to hold the growing number of repeat felons. Dangerous criminals don’t need to be loose on the streets. Parents, don’t raise your children to be criminals !

I believe the whole criminal justice needs totally revamped. Legislators create as well as enact laws that are solicited by certain contributors whom I will not disclose due to subsequent ramifications. However, our system is tainted and without any structure that entails a closer look into what “is” and what “is not” in the fortification of that system. We have a “lazy” system of government that would rather take a more simple approach to “what works” rather than a more in depth incentive that would prohibit unwarranted and senseless statutes and moreso funding that support these ridiculous laws. Many of our “so called” laws need elleviated or simply abolished. People do not realize that it is THEIR own money that is TAKEN to bring on such a controlled society and since its not all taken in one lump sum, it doesn’t seem to phase them simply due to elementary measures. A somewhat narrow analogy would be to take a $1000 cell phone from a small child and replace it with a $5 wrist watch. The child will be equally mesmerized or transfixed to the shiny and glistening new toy but unbeknownst to the child, it is not an equal. That is a psychological ploy that has been used throughout centuries with Americans. Transfixed and preoccupied on current events in media as well as technology and thereby creating ignorance to the real world around them. You can rebut this with many different arguments but in its apparent form, it is very moot to raise such a debate. It would serve to be irrelevant to the former or latter simply because of the overwhelming ignorance that plagues or society.

Mike, Did you attend the same school that Mayor Pete did ? You both have a way of saying a lot, but not quite getting your message across. In a nutshell, what is your solution to incarceration ?
