Governor Whitmer signs biggest budget in Michigan’s history

Governor Whitmer has signed the highest budget in Michigan’s history.

For the first time in 40 years, the Democrats control the state government.

The budget signed by Whitmer takes advantage of a record surplus to establish a picture of what the Democrats want to spend on.

When combined with a $24 billion Michigan schools budget that was signed on July 20th, Monday’s budget weighs in at nearly $82 billion.

It includes infrastructure goals, public safety, and access to public health care.

Six Republican votes in the Senate were needed to pass the budget, and they came through in time for the budget to be signed.
