It’s been one year since the passing of Representative Jackie Walorski, the highly respected, loved and admired Congresswoman who represented Indiana’s 2nd District.
Congresswoman Walorski was killed in a two-vehicle head-on crash one year ago today that also claimed the lives of her communication director, Emma Thomson, and Zachery Potts, her district director. The driver of the other vehicle, Edith Schmucker of Nappanee, also died in the collision.
Walorski, a former South Bend journalist and Riley High School graduate, was a tireless advocate for the military and veterans, and a local public servant even before she was in office, working with the County Humane Society and Chamber of Commerce over the years.
Governor Eric Holcomb says of her: “One year later and the magnitude of her absence is still felt daily. Congresswoman Jackie Walorski was a force to reckon with and a fearless fighter for her Hoosier neighbors in northern Indiana.”

Very sad. I think about that automobile crash and them, every time I drive on this highway. People drive too fast for this two lane highway.
