A teenager was hit by a tire after it came off of a semi on I-80/94.

Indiana State Police officers were called on Tuesday, Aug. 16, to eastbound lanes west of mile-marker 1.

They say the tire had come off of the rear tandem of a semi truck due to “mechanical issues.”

During its roll, it hit a 15-year-old boy who was helping change a car’s flat tire on the side of the road.

He was taken to a local hospital, and then flown to another hospital in Chicago with potentially life-threatening injuries.
