Several disturbances have been reported along Eddy Street Commons during the holiday weekend, according to South Bend Police

On Sunday, Sep. 3, around 10:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of N. Eddy Street on reports of a disturbance involving a large group of juveniles.

As officers responded, additional witnesses called 9-1-1 to report heavy fighting, juveniles displaying firearms, at least one shot fired, and one person struck by a vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers assisted in dispersing the crowd and checking the area for any possible victims.

Ultimately, one juvenile assault victim was located but declined medical treatment.

No other injuries were reported.

The South Bend Police Department is continuing to process evidence and investigate this incident, as well as other disturbances at the same location during the holiday weekend.

Those things aren’t supposed to happen so close to the Notre Dame campus. That’s a whole different South Bend than the dangerous parts. Eddy Street Commons may just have to be walled in, like the restricted community it thinks it is.

Travis,

Notre Dame is the special restricted space. Eddy Street Commons may just have to become a gated community for safety. Israel has walled-in communities and it works.
