Flamingos from Mexico blown off course by Idalia, end up in Ohio

white and pink flamingo

There were a number of impacts after Hurricane Idalia made landfall in the U.S.

One of them was a little strange.

Flamingos have been reported in Ohio. The birds, which appear to have come from Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula, were blown off course by the storm. They have also been reported in Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and the Carolinas.

Tags have been spotted on the flamingos consistent with the Mexican flocks.

Other birds, from Cuba, ended up in Florida according to a weather reporter there. The powerful hurricane hit Florida late last month.
