A new fire station could be coming to Dowagiac.

The city council unanimously approved the final design and financing plan for the station. The plan calls for a new fire station in the city’s industrial park.

Leader Publications reports that the city will repurpose the current fire station for the Department of Public Services.

The new fire department will have five bays for vehicles and equipment, a space for indoor training, an outdoor training area, and an area for firefighters to decontaminate gear.

The cost is $4.5 million.
