Out of the Darkness Walk for St. Joseph Co. to fight back against suicide this Saturday

This weekend marks the Out of the Darkness Walk in St. Joseph County with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

AFSP Indiana’s Executive Director Kelsey Aaron says the fundraiser is important for raising awareness, and for showing support. It’s open to all ages and registration is free, though donations for the cause and walk sponsorships will be gladly accepted.

Check in for the event begins Saturday Sept. 23 at Howard Park in South Bend at 9 a.m. with the walk starting at 10.

Walkers can also bring a new pair of socks on the event day that reminds them of a loved one they are walking for. Those socks will be displayed with their loved one’s name on the day of the walk, and then donated to the Center For the Homeless in South Bend after the event.

The walk is one of several being planned this month across The Hoosier State. You can learn more at AFSP.org.

Register for the walk by clicking here.
