The City of South Bend is inviting the public to offer feedback on its draft Community Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Plan. The plan identifies strategic needs and opportunities to improve equitable charging access and support progress towards South Bend’s EV future.
Through the creation of this Plan, the City will be prepared to take full advantage of upcoming federal grant opportunities to support the development of a convenient and reliable charging network, which will help the City accelerate EV adoption.
The public can view the draft plan at www.southbendin.gov/sustainability and provide feedback to City staff by emailing EVPlan@southbendin.gov.
Public feedback will be collected through Wednesday, Nov. 1.
The City’s Sustainability Office developed the EV Infrastructure Plan with a sustainability consulting firm. During the planning process, several meetings were held with community members to get their input, which has contributed to the draft Plan.

Clearly, these expensive and easily-vandalized EV chargers need to be placed in areas where nobody can afford an EV.
This is dumb, even for the idiots in South Bend’s government. Then again, any time the word “equitable” comes out of someone’s mouth it’s always followed by a whole mess of stupid…
Did government fund gasoline stations when the gasoline automobiles first came out ? The answer is no. If you can afford an electric vehicle, you have an outlet and charger at home.
The Democrats in charge want you to ride bicycles, electric scooters, or walk, to travel around the city. Look what they are doing to the streets in that city. Closing lanes and turning them into dedicated bicycle Lanes with fences separating them. Have you see the new speed bunps ? Mayor Peter’s Smart Streets were one of the stupidest changes in traffic flow. The bottom line is they don’t want your gasoline and diesel vehicles driving around. Welcome to Southern California Woke mentality.
