According to a recent personal finance website WalletHub report, almost one-third of Americans prefer to live in suburban areas.
WalletHub has released its list of the best small cities in America for the year 2023, and the country’s top city is central Indiana.
The researchers at WalletHub analyzed over 1,300 U.S. cities with populations between 25,000 and 100,000, considering five key dimensions: affordability, economic health, education and health, quality of life, and safety.
The study only considered the “city proper” and excluded cities in the surrounding metropolitan area.
After analyzing the data, Carmel emerged as the best small city in America for 2023, thanks to its high marks in home ownership, median household income, and public safety.

People live in Carmel because they have money, they don’t have money because they live in Carmel. As usual, Wallethub is clueless.

Is it really a shock to anyone that the people who want the amenities of civilization also don’t want to live in a blighted urban jungle full of dangerous predators? I’m shocked that it was only a third that preferred the suburbs.
