A Goshen man has been arrested after allegedly lying to police that his girlfriend was armed with a gun.

Goshen officers were sent around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, to a home in the 2300 block of Sterling Court after a man, identified as Alexander Carthans, 40, called 911 and told dispatchers he was in a physical fight with a female who had a gun.

Upon arrival, officers say no firearms were displayed, or even present in the home, and that Carthans had physically assaulted his 28-year-old girlfriend in front of their three children.

Carthans was arrested for False Informing and Felony Domestic Battery and taken at the Elkhart County Jail.
