Trial is underway for the three remaining defendants indicted as part of a federal investigation.
The FBI began investigating in 2018 after the South Bend Housing Authority allegedly wrote checks to contractors for property improvements that were never completed.
This happened under Tonya Robinson’s lead between 2014 and 2019.
Albert Smith and Robinson have been accused of depositing the money into their personal accounts and spending most of it at casinos.
Millions of dollars were said to have been stolen. Three others, including Robinson’s daughter, have pleaded guilty.
The trial is expected to continue until the end of the week.

Millions of dollars means that there was lots of collusion. Doesn’t the city or county have an auditor? I see the houses south of the Rabbi Shulman high rise have been demolished, at taxpayer expense. This is a tremendous waste of natural resources, and shows what Democrats and liberals mean by environmentalism and sustainability. This kind of waste means Biden will have less money to send to Iran. With the Democrats and the NAACP running South Bend, who needs the KKK?
They have an unlimited supply of taxpayers money to blow. Why is government in the housing business in the first place ?
So the three or four people that have now been convicted of embezzlement by stealing from the Housing Authority so they could gamble at the Four Winds Casino that was promoted by the City of South Bend and the South Bend Tribune, will they be charged with tax evasion? Between two of them it was nearly a million dollars, or will they get the same two tier justice that Joe and Hunter Biden receive? Keep voting Democrat and you will continue to get the same result. FAFO.
