Michigan legislation would prohibit ‘inhumane’ declawing of cats

(95.3 MNC)

Michigan cats may soon be protected against inhumane declawing.

Michigan State Representative Jimmie Wilson wrote House Bill 4674 which would make declawing a cat illegal in most situations.

WSBT states that the way the bill is written would allow for medically necessary declaws, though the elective removal would be prohibited due to its inhumane nature.

Similar legislation was introduced a few years ago, but it did not go anywhere.

However, they say there is more support but that it has a long way to go before it could become law.
