Holy Cross considers dropping Crusaders mascot

Another Michiana school is considering a mascot change over concerns that their current nickname might be considered offensive.

Holy Cross Catholic School in South Bend is discussing the future of their “Crusaders” mascot. WSBT reports that more than a dozen Holy Cross parishioners say the term could be “offensive,” given the violent history of the crusades that began in the 11th century.

Valparaiso University dropped the Crusaders mascot in 2021 in favor of “Beacons.”

In 2011, Pope Benedict XVI said the church acknowledged the crusades “with great shame.”

No timeline has been set for any possible change at Holy Cross.

Because history is bad and we need to whitewash every other version than the currently approved narrative. All things noble must be denigrated to realize the dream of the communist utopia.

This is the path of cowards.

Why do we constantly have to cower to the few who see something or anything they feel is wrong and everyone else has to accept their whinging feelings.
This America, accept the past, learn from it. Love our country for the great accomplishments we have lived for. America is not perfect, no country is, but we are far ahead of any of them. Quit trying to turn us in to a Solistic, Communist, single party, one ruler government. The majority makes the decisions, not the few who hate America.
