A Benton Harbor man with a extensive criminal record has been sentenced to prison in Cass County Circuit Court for attempting to steal a catalytic converter and possessing drugs.
William Baggett, 48, pleaded guilty to narcotics and cocaine possession and motor vehicle larceny, receiving concurrent sentences of one to four years and one to five years.
He faces over $2,000 in fines and costs.
Leader Publications reports the theft attempt happened last November on M-51 in Pokagon Township, where prosecutor say he was also found with a syringe testing positive for fentanyl.
Baggett, who’s already serving an 18-month to 10-year sentence from a prior Berrien County conviction, will serve these new terms concurrent to those.
