A private security firm has been hired to patrol the busiest shopping areas in Benton Harbor.

Benton Township officials have hired a security firm to help keep shoppers safe, according to WSJM.

Lange Investigations will watch the stores in the Fairplain area, Meijer, Walmart, and Best Buy to add another layer of peace of mind to shoppers.

The Benton Township Police Department is low on officers heading into the holiday season.

The same firm worked with the township over the summer to keep the parks safe, according to WSJM, and officials were happy with their results.
