Bird was found guilty in October of murder and criminal recklessness.

Bird has sentenced to 55 years for murder; he was also sentenced to 3 years for criminal recklessness, to be served consecutively in the Indiana Department of Corrections.

Harris was a corrections officer with St. Joseph County Police. She died after being struck by a bullet at a home on Milburn Avenue.

Witnesses say Bird and his 14-year-old brother fired shots from a vehicle. One of the bullets traveled into the home, killing Harris.
