The St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team is investigating a deadly crash that happened Friday morning.

Police were dispatched shortly after 7 a.m. to a collision involving a passenger vehicle and a commercial vehicle.

When they arrived, they found that the driver of the passenger vehicle,   Kathy Moore, 61, of Walkerton , had died. Reports say that prior to the crash, a school bus had been picking up students in the westbound lane of State Road 23 with the stop arm extended.

Moore’s vehicle stopped in the eastbound lane and was struck from behind by the commercial vehicle.

The crash remains under investigation, though the driver of the commercial vehicle was said to be cooperative with authorities.
