The Brandywine school board has lifted the suspension of the purchase of violent books and materials.

They’ve also accepted a $5,000 “We Need Diverse Books” grant. Leader Publications reports that the board had suspended the purchase of violent and sexually explicit books earlier this year.

A sexually explicit book and materials committee was formed over the summer, creating a new policy.

It makes sure that parents review excerpts before giving students permission to access the books. Parents can also give their kids blanket access.
