Five fire departments fought a large barn fire early Thursday morning in Elkhart County.

Firefighters were called to Harrison Township shortly before 3 a.m. to C.R. 30 in the area of S.R. 19, north of Wakarusa.

A hay barn was destroyed in the blaze, but first responders were able to retrieve more than a million dollars worth of equipment from an attached shed. There were no reports of any injuries to people or animals in the fire, and hot spots were still being put out late Thursday morning.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
