New football coach named for Elkhart High School

Elkhart Community Schools has announced that Travon Curry has been selected as the new varsity Football coach for Elkhart High School. Curry has served as the Associate Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator for the past two seasons. He’s also the district’s Dean of Elementary Athletics and Attendance. Curry was born and raised here, played football at Elkhart Central and graduated in 2005. Curry attended Anderson University where he played football for three seasons.

“Coach Travon Curry has demonstrated strong commitment to our Football program in his role on the Varsity Coaching staff as the Associate Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator for the past two seasons,” said Cary Anderson, Principal at Elkhart High School. “He’s recognized by parents, students and the broader public for his passionate support of youth sports as the district’s Elementary Athletics Director, and as the Founder/Director of Club C.O.E, which stands for Character Over Everything – Club C.O.E. works to instill city youth with character to thrive both educationally and athletically.”

“I’m thankful and blessed to be named the Head Coach at Elkhart High,” commented Curry. “I was born and raised here and played football at Elkhart Central. This is a dream come true and I’m grateful to Principal Cary Anderson and Athletic Directors Jacquie Rost and Brian Buckley.”

“Curry is a seasoned professional who knows what’s expected of him in leading a football feeder program for Elkhart,” added Jacquie Rost, Athletic Director. He brings years of knowledge and a disciplined approach to managing staff, student-athletes and football operations.”

“Coach Curry is a product of Elkhart Community Schools,” added Brian Buckley, Athletic Director. “He’s well-known within the Athletic Department and within district leadership circles. We’re excited about working with him to improve and grow the Elkhart Football program.”
