A Niles man got into a fight with his girlfriend in the Niles Walmart parking lot.

And now, he’s been sentenced to probation.

21-year-old Richard Shults IV pleaded guilty to attempted assault by strangulation. It happened in early October in the Walmart parking lot.

Shults’ defense attorney says Shults was sorry for his actions and lost control during an argument.

Leader Publications reports that Shults can petition to get the probation off his record in the future.
