One person taken into custody after SWAT situation in South Bend

One person has been detained after a robbery at a business led to a SWAT situation.
Officers were first called around 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19, to the 1600 block of Portage Avenue on the report of the heist.
Police were then called to an address in the 2500 block of Pleasant Street.
The South Bend Police Department’s SWAT Team and Hostage-Crisis Negotiations Team were sent to help out. At least one suspect was detained.
Due to the close proximity, Nuner School was placed on a brief lockdown.
