Congressman Jim Banks has introduced the Abortion Funding Awareness Act, which would require states to submit a report every year to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on all payments of abortions with federal funds, and publish that report on the state’s website.

Currently, 18 states allow Medicaid to pay for abortions.

Banks says “The majority of Americans are opposed to taxpayer-funded abortion,” and the legislation is endorsed by a handful of pro-life organizations.
