A man who pleaded guilty to drug charges in December was sentenced on Thursday.

31-year-old James Whittington was arrested on August 9, 2021 after being pulled over by an undercover officer for a traffic violation.

After smelling marijuana, the officer had Whittington exit the vehicle and detained him.

The Goshen News says he informed Whittington that he had also been under investigation for distributing drugs.

Whittington told officers that he had marijuana on him but nothing else; though an Elkhart K-9 detected marijuana, methamphetamine and cocaine.

Police reportedly seized 3.4 grams of marijuana, 2.4 grams of heroin, and 29.8 grams of cocaine, fentanyl or methamphetamine. He was sentenced to 15 years in total with five suspended on reporting probation.
