Man steals vehicle and hits pedestrian, sentenced to prison

A man is going to prison, after stealing a vehicle and hitting a pedestrian on July 9 in Niles.

44-year-old Michael Fisher, New Carlisle, pleaded guilty to unlawful driving away of a motor vehicle and assault with a dangerous weapon.

He was sentenced to 14 months to five year in prison.

Leader Publications reports that Fisher had suffered from mental health problems and has been homeless or unemployed.

Fisher apologized in court. The judge told Fisher that he needs to take care of his mental health.
