A man was transported to the hospital for serious and potentially life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle.

Around 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7, an officer arrived on South Main Street in Elkhart to find medics treating 57-year-old Timothy Adams. He was lying on the ground at the front of a Buick that had been traveling south.

Authorities say a female driving the Buick hit Adams as he was crossing the road in an area with low lighting.

There was no crosswalk where Adams was crossing the road.

The female driving the Buick remained at the scene and cooperated with officers.
