There was a brief lockdown, Friday, at Jimtown Junior High School after administrators learned that a student might have been in possession of a gun on campus.
The lockdown began just before 11:30 and was lifted within 20 minutes.
While that was happening, the student was detained and the weapon was placed in the hands of school resource officers.
The student was then taken to the Elkhart County Juvenile Detention Center.
