A Cassopolis man died after he crashed into a tree.

The collision happened around 7:40 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 11, on Dutch Settlement Road near Nubour Street in Wayne Township.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office reports Doren Preston, 72, was traveling eastbound when his vehicle left the road and hit the tree. Preston died at the scene.

Factors that led to the crash are still being investigated, though the Cass County Sheriff’s Office reports that alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the collision.
