Man charged in connection with deadly hit-and-run of bicyclist

The man arrested in connection with the deadly hit-and-run of a bicyclist in Mishawaka has been formally charged.
Robert Blankenship, 49, of Mishawaka faces a count of Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death to Another Person, a Level 4 Felony.
Blankenship is accused of leaving the scene of the Feb. 13, crash on East 12th Street that resulted in the death of bicyclist Varinder Singh, 19.
The sentencing range for a Level 4 Felony is 2 to 12 years.
Blankenship was ordered to be held without bond until his initial bail hearing, which is expected to occur on Friday, Feb. 16.
