Teenage boy struck, killed by train in South Bend identified

A teenage boy died after being struck by a train.

First responders, including South Bend Police, were called to the area of Lincoln Way East and Robinson Street around 8:45 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 16.

Upon arrival, officers located a male victim, who was ultimately pronounced dead.

The victim has been identified as Joaquin Edwards, 16, of South Bend. He was a junior at Adams High School.

While initial evidence suggests this incident was a tragic accident, Norfolk Southern will conduct a full investigation.
