Indiana State Senator Mike Bohacek is up against tougher competition as he seeks re-election.

Spencer England, a local Republican from Starke County, has thrown his hat into the ring to represent Starke County as well as sections of LaPorte, Marshall, and St. Joseph Counties. England will be running alongside Bohacek and Joe Layne as fellow Republican candidates.

On the Democratic side, Leon P. Smith is the sole candidate for District 8.
